A friend of mine and I, where talking about some of Googles services today. Which led me to thinking: What do Google really know about me? In today’s online world, it is hard not to use Google in some way. And I use a lot of different Google services.
Let’s take a look at what Google knows about me from the services I use:
- One of my bank account numbers(I use AdSense)
- My Visa card number including the safety digits and when it expires (I use Google checkout)
- My name
- Where I live (AdSense & Checkout)
- My birthday
- Which websites I own(Analytics)
- What feeds I like to read(Google Reader)
- Everything I email and all of my contacts(Gmail)
- How many people subscribe to my feeds(Feedburner)
So that is what they know from services I use, let’s see what they know from their index (aka. all the things everybody, including future employers, can find!)
- My name
- My age
- Which forums I use and have used
- My LinkedIn profile
- My Flickr account
- My Myspace account
- My profession (dahh!)
- My username on deviantART
- My facebook account
It’s kinda scary to think about it - Google knows things about me that I don’t tell to anyone. So what do google know about you?
