You want to get more done and work less? Better start looking objectively on your work. Here are 3 tips that I use to get more done.
1. Cut down your hours and get more done
Trying to develop your websites for 12 hours a day is stupid. You won’t get anything useful done for 70% of the time. If you cut it down to 5 hours you’ll get more done cause you won’t mess about on youtube or facebook. You’ll have to sit down and work focused on the tasks at hand.
2. Do one task at the time
Focus your attention on the task at hand. It’s much easier to not get distracted when you focus on one task. And if you are able to, you might be better of not sitting down to work 1 hour but instead sitting down to do this one task and then come back to the next task later.
3. Track your time - where did it go?
Tracking your time and you’ll soon discover that working a couple of hours a day will run by fast if you are getting distracted. tracking your tasks will also give you a better idea of what your time consuming tasks are and how to deal with them. Get yourself a simple time tracker and remember to use it. Right now I use clockme.in with the firefox plugin which makes it easy to start and stop. If that’s not something for you, do a simple google search and you’ll find a ton of alternatives.
Try it out and be sure to provide your own tips.
